Frequently Asked Questions
Digistain® Breast offers a rapid solution for assessing recurrence risk in breast cancer patients. By analysing validated protein-level biomarkers linked to cancer cell proliferation, it delivers an easy-to-interpret risk score, to aid adjuvant chemotherapy decisions.
Digistain® Breast is recommended for post-surgery risk stratification in HR-positive, HER2-negative early-stage breast cancer patients with up to three positive lymph nodes, particularly when the benefit of adjuvant chemotherapy remains uncertain.
Yes, Digistain® operates downstream of genomic tests, using infrared spectrometry to analyse the molecular composition of tumour biopsies at the protein level. This generates the Digistain® Index (DI), a measure of chromosomal instability—a hallmark of solid tumours. The DI, combined with standard clinicopathological features, is processed through a proprietary AI-enabled machine learning algorithm to produce a robust, accurate risk score: the Digistain® Prognostic Score (DPS).
Yes, Digistain® has been clinically validated in a retrospective cohort study of 801 HR-positive, HER2-negative patients with a median follow-up of 12.7 years. The results of this study demonstrated that Digistain has statistically significant prognostic accuracy, with significant hazard ratios for low- vs high-risk categorisation for recurrence-free survival, recurrence, and overall survival.
